Fook Ming Tong presents regal purple drinks The Royal Lavender Tea Collection
The colour purple was deemed as auspicious in ancient China , the appearing of purple cloud was thought to be a sign of forthcoming new emperors, saints and invaluable treasures. China is an old civilization with a meticulous tradition of protocols, since the dawn of its history, tea drinking has been an elegant activity for its people. To greet visitors, Chinese families would pour a pot of tea to show their hospitality, in fact tea offering plays a major part in Chinese rituals, ranging from religious rite, wedding ceremony to gesture of apology. Tea is at the heart of Chinese culture, exemplifying the artistic temperament of the Middle Kingdom. Teas can be classified into spring tea, summer tea, autumn tea and winter tea according to the seasons they are picked. They can then be further processed into six major categories: white tea, yellow tea, green tea, blue tea, red tea and black tea. Lavender is the most beloved purple plants, Fook Ming Tong introduced the Royal Lavender series in 2005, featuring three premier teas -- Anqi Ti Guan Yin HK$1,023 (250g), Wuyi Da Hung Pao HK$390 (150g) and Xifeng Pre-Chingming Long Jin HK$980 (250g), all exquisitely selected by tea masters.
