Thomas Lee devised the concept of Fook Ming Tong Tea Shop to an inspirational brand and successfully developed a new profile of tea from a very traditional Chinese culture. Fook Ming Tong now proudly stands alongside Alexandre de Paris, 4℃, M. I. Hummel, Lalique, Narumi, Rosenthal and Steiff, the other international brands of which his family is their Sole Distributors in Hongkong.

Having been a tea aficionado when young, Mr. Lee finds it is getting more difficult to get Chinese tea of premium quality. He believes that with proper quality control, impressive marketing concept and creative packaging of products, tea business will be different. Fook Ming Tong Tea Shop was then founded in 1987, he filled the niche and led the Tea Shop evolve from tradition to a new trend.

Fook Ming Tong is unique in many aspects. The Tea Master, Wong San Chun, comes from the growth region of tea at Angi in Fujian Province. He grew up in the midst of tea growing and has deep devotion on it. He graduated from Fuan Tea College and worked as a supervisor in the tea farm. Then later was the lecturer at Fuan Tea College. He also was an active member of the Tea Grading Committee in Fujian Tea Export Corporation. From nurturing of plants, fermentation of leaves and firings of the end products, he has preformed mastership in this field. Now based in Hongkong, he still have to make trips to Fujian Province every year, to source leaves of best quality, bids good bargain and supervises the process of production during harvest time. His expertise sets Fook Ming Tong from other tea retailers who are not deeply rooted in Fujian. They have no alternative, but make purchases from wholesale agents in Hongkong. He is expertise on Oolong Tea, the produce from his home. Leaves there are grown, nurtured, picked, half-fermented and fired in a charcoal kiln under the Tea Master's professional leadership.

Fook Ming Tong stocks a variety of Chinese tea, Nanyang Ti Guan Yin, Xifeng Pre-Ching Ming Long Jin, Zhejiang Jasmine Mao Feng, Yunnan Years Unknown Pu Er, Wuyi Dao Hung Pao, Mount Phoenix Shu Xian and Keemun Black Tea…. To keep the extinctive characteristics of them, Fook Ming Tong is the pioneer in using low temperature ventilated cabinets for storage of tea. The controlled temperature and stable humidity keep the freshness and fragrance to the best standard and ensure a Quality Assurance of the products.

Aim of Fook Ming Tong besides up keeping the Quality Assurance, its emphasis is also on the packaging of products. Tea is first packed in foil bags to reach top hygienic standard, then put in tins and boxes for gift presentation. The Tea Shop has a Product Designer who works on creative gift packaging and new concept is implemented every year. Over the years, tins of various shapes and designs are produced and have become popular collectors' items.

For Art of Tea in serving, there is a team of staff who is fully comprehended with the intangible knowledge and always ready to share what they know with the customers. Besides the many varieties of tea, there is also a large collection of tea teapots and accessories from Yishing in China to make enjoyment easier.
