The raw materials come from the Yiwu region of Yunnan. "Yiwu" is a Dai word meaning "the place where the beautiful snake lives." Yiwu boasts superior ecological endowments, with a forest coverage rate of 84.3%, an average elevation of 1,400 meters, and an annual average temperature of 17.7°C. It enjoys abundant rainfall and ample sunshine year-round. The excellent natural environment and well-aerated soil, rich in minerals, are highly favorable for the planting and growth of tea trees.
Using traditional Pu'er tea production techniques, fresh leaves of the large-leaf varietal from the Yiwu region in Yunnan are selected and processed into sun-dried maocha (rough tea). The tea then undergoes wodui (wet-piling) fermentation. During this process, the combined action of microorganisms and extracellular enzymes promotes the transformation of the tea's internal compounds before it is pressed into shape, making it a post-fermented tea.
This tea has been stored and aged during different periods in warehouses in Menghai, Dongguan, and Kunming, which refines its aroma and taste to make them even purer.
In appearance, the tea cake is neatly shaped with moderate compression, showing a reddish-brown color with fairly visible fine hairs (pekoe). When brewed, the tea is red and bright. It possesses a rich, aged aroma with woody notes. The flavor is rich, mellow, sweet, refreshing, and smooth.
