Banpen Laozhai is located in Menghai County, Xishuangbanna, adjacent to the renowned Laobanzhang tea area. The region is characterized by high mountains, dense forests, and pristine ecology, where ancient trees and tea plants grow in harmony. This exceptional natural environment is what gives Banpen Pu-erh its distinctive quality.

The tea disc is produced using traditional Pu'er processing techniques. Fresh leaves of the Yunnan broad-leaf variety (Dayezhong) are made into sun-dried green tea (Maocha), then undergo wet-piling fermentation (Wodui). Under the combined action of microorganisms and extracellular enzymes, the chemical components within the leaves are transformed. The fermented tea is then compressed into cakes. It belongs to the category of post-fermented tea.

After more than a decade of storage and aging, the cake surface is smooth and even. The leaves are plump and tightly bound, with moderate compression, and slightly visible buds, displaying a reddish-brown color.

The tea liquor is deep red, bright, and luminous, with a pure and authentic aged aroma. The taste is rich, mellow, and full-bodied.
