乾隆時代便存在的原生種，有性繁殖，一樹一味，無一相同。發芽晚，產量較低，芽葉大小不一，卻因此擁有更豐富的內含物質——茶湯更醇厚，香氣更沉實，層次多變。

Know Your Long Jing Cultivars: Long Jing #43 vs Aged Species (Qunti Zhong)
The flavour of Long Jing tea varies not only with origin but also with the tea plant variety.
Long Jing #43
A clonally propagated cultivar bred by the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. It buds early, producing neat and uniform leaves. This is the most common Long Jing variety on the market, valued for its stability and suitability for standardized production. It has a bean or chestnut aroma, with fresh and brisk taste.
Aged Species (Qunti Zhong)
The original Long Jing variety dating back to the Qing dynasty. Propagated by seed, every tree is unique. It buds later, yields less, and its leaves vary in size. This variation gives it a richer composition: a fuller body, a more profound aroma, and complex layers. This is the essence of Long Jing’s original character.
What Makes Aged Species Precious
• Each tree grows from seed and cannot be cloned by cutting—requiring more care and patience
• Deeper roots absorb more minerals, resulting in greater texture and depth
• Yield is less than that of Long Jing #43, with a later harvest, making pre Qingming quantities extremely rare
